Source: Decapitated Name New Bassist

June 11, 2012

Poland’s death metal stalwarts Decapitated’s short search for a new bassist has reportedly come to an end. According to sources, the band has landed none other than Seattle, Washington’s own Anthony Ray. Ray, as most of you know had a pretty impressive musical career from the mid 80′s to the mid 90′s. In fact, he even teamed up with Metal Church for an interesting spin on Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” early in his career. As a big of a legend in the bass community, he really took off creatively and his entourage was even spotted for an extended time on Broadway. Ray brings a new creative touch to Decapitated’s style of technical death metal. Although he reportedly has admitted to have not owned any of the band’s albums since “Nihility”,  the mutual respect between he and the band make this a perfect fit. Time will tell how the fans warm up to this, but given his practice ethic I bet they will be happy as it goes on. Ray has been practicing on Gorguts, Atheist, and Obscura basslines according to a publicist, so he surely has the chops.

We’ll have more on this story after they are put on the glass…

(Note: I humbly apologize for the previous picture that accompanied this article. I know I offended at least one prominent member of the metal journalism community out there. It was distasteful and wrong. I now understand that gore has no place in heavy metal — UNF Guy)

I for one wish there were more decapitated pictures on this article. The rainbow unicorn was a nice touch
