When You Were Listening To Slayer and Pantera In The 90′s, You SHOULD Have Been Listening To This…
For all the boring albums Slayer put out in the 90′s, they got a free pass from most of the diehards. Why? Well, the number one reason given by the Slayer faithful was simply this: “SSLLLLAAAAYYYYEEEERRRR!”. Then there was Pantera. Ahhh, Pantera. Now whereas Slayer’s relevance to me ended after “Hell Awaits”, Pantera’s relevance is an oxymoron. To me anyway… I know they seemed to move a lot of you, and hey, that’s cool, I liked them back in high school as well. Of course that was the “Cowboys From Hell” era. If I HAD to listen to a Pantera record, I suppose it would be that one, or it’s predecessor “Power Metal”, but anything after that is definitely sleep material. Then there were Slipknot, Korn, and Machine Head. All the ‘tough guy alpha males’ liked those bands because they were ‘heavy’, to their ears anyway. Apply all the reasons people loved those aforementioned bands back then, it’s hard for me to understand why Merauder’s “Master Killer” album didn’t make a bigger splash. Sure, there were other bands of that ilk, like Pissing Razors and such in those days that were equally heavy and mean, but Merauder’s first album was just perfect. No filler. None of the sleep-inducing moments by all the bands I mentioend earlier. Just hard, in-your-face, ass-brutalizing hardcore metal. Not metalcore in the sense of the crap the mall kids have been playing the last decade, but real badass riff-tastic heavy-as-fuck music. Pro-Pain on steroids, perhaps. Sick Of It All with metal elements, maybe. Anyway, check out the “Master Killer” album, or don’t… it’s your life. \m/

I have never heard Marauder. I will definitely check them out.
Mike, definitely check their debut album. Their other stuff was good too, but the debut was flawless!
A long while ago… I heard tracks through century media… the tracks I heard where great, seems like they faded away… none the less great band.
Who in the name of all that is holy is this girl? AND Marauder rocks, so fck ya!
