Metal Concert In Alabama Shut Down By Conservative Group Protesters

       They were warned to keep away, but if there is one thing we know about the grindcore band Traumatic Anal Devastation, it is that they don’t mind a little bit of controversy. When it became public that the band would be playing a gig in Dothan, Alabama Wednesday night (or church night part 2, as they say in the South), a group of concerned mothers sent letters demanding the band stay away. The band played a dive bar in the town as part of a small tour on the heels of their recently released “Onward To Gol-darnit” EP. The protest, lead by Dorothea “Old Stickler” Jenkins, consisted of at least 45 people, mostly part of the Single Moms For Newt Gingrich group. “We have warned these rock and roll bands to stay out of Dothan! This is not their place. We are a God fearing people, and we will not tolerate their influence on our children.” When told that only 15 people were attending the concert, the youngest of which was 27 and came down from Birmingham, Jenkins replied “We can only hope to show the light to the adults. We are ardent supporters of Newt Gingrich and this band must be stopped. we have read about them. We know they are a bunch of corrupt liberals trying to poison those in their audience. Stay out of Dothan, you dirty punks!”
        T.A.D. vocalist Gravelthroat offered to give Ms. Jenkins a hug, but her receptivity was dead cold. “We play songs to entertain our friends and to educate people who are caught up in the conservative brainwashing. People like these protesters make it all worthwhile. Sure, they shut us down after 3 minutes, but we at least got to play half the new EP. The Dothan fans were great though.”
